Review by RLJ / (Posted on 2/6/2020)Have shot 2 elk with the 120 E tip out of a 6.5 Grendel @2550 velocity. Went clear through a cow chest at 200 yards breaking ribs both sides. Running shot on spike @ 250 yards went through brisket, shoulder and lodged in far leg. 2nd shot on spike broke spine and found inside far side skin. -
UPDATE!
Review by jbloader / (Posted on 11/29/2018)Dear Nosler,
This week I used my first 120gr E-Tip to harvest a Midwest Doe. She was quartering away and a friend shot from a stand across the field at another deer while I was aiming. She turned to run when I fired and instead of hitting her behind the ribs, I hit her in her in the right hind quarter. It was a dumb shot. A rushed shot. One that I wish I could take back.
Still, the bullet passed through her right rear hind quarter, hit her liver, her left lung, and exited her left side. It broke two ribs and left a horizontal hole big enough to put my four fingers through. She ran about 30 yards and fell.
This was a 120gr bullet moving approximately 2800fps. We cut away about 1/4 lbs of "ruined" meat.
I will make no excuses. This was a "well-placed" bad shot. So, to give credit where it's due, I owe the results to Nosler performance and it was duly noted by others.
When caping her, three other hunters gathered around. We estimate that the bullet traveled at least 24" from back to front with devastating effect.
A poor shot today was saved by a quality bullet. Thank you for creating such a forgiving round.
Sincerely, Johnny B.
P.S. Two of the three other hunters asked me to help them develop loads in 168gr .308 E-Tips after we cleaned all the deer. This confidence was reiterated by a friend who told me that he killed a 300+lbs black bear with them,"In like a pencil, out like a soup can."
No bones about. Nosler E-Tips are whitetail poison.
